Her Cup Runneth Over

Diane Burton • August 21, 2020

God always provides more than enough.

"Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you - pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back." Luke 6:38 NLT

I say amen to this verse. I stand in Awe of how our heavenly Father gives back to me more than I could ever imagine 💝💝💝
God always provides more than enough.

There were times when our children were little that I didn't know how we would make it to the end of the week - God always provided.
I remember a time when our son had been in the hospital because of his asthma. We had to get a prescription filled. I remember telling Ken there might not be money left to purchase groceries (we had health insurance; however, not the best prescription coverage.)
There was very little left in the bank account after getting the prescription; however, God provided and we were taken care of.

A friend once told me that a family member encouraged her to cut back on her weekly contribution to God when she was going through a divorce, a move and looking for a job. She said no. She would do without something else before she left God out. This person has been blessed - God has pressed down, shaken together and her cup runneth over.

I have a feeling you could share stories of how God took care of you. Feel free to share in the comments. Always, always, He provides.
It's important for us to remember everything we have belongs to Him. He has loaned it to us. How are using it? How are we taking care of His gift?

In the OT the Israelites were commanded to tithe. Today, we are told to give as we have been prospered. If you multiplied what you give each week to God by 10, could you live on it? If not, you are not giving enough! I believe 10% is a starting point. I invite you to give more.

God tells His people in Malachi 3:10 to put Him to the test. Test Him to see if "He will open the windows of heaven for you and pour down a blessing until there is no more need."

It's important to know this giving from God isn't only about money. It's for all areas of our life.
Think of the times you have done a kindness for someone - something that didn't cost money or cost very little. I can assure you the blessings from God for that flowed to you.

When we send love and kindness to others, it will come back to us.
I invite you to pay close attention to how God is blessing you and the kindnesses coming your way.
And, give because you want to - not because God says He will bless you - it must be done with a cheerful, giving heart.

I pray your day is filled with blessings pouring into your lap.

Progress isn't always a straight line
By Diane Burton August 19, 2021
I decided to treat the dirty window as one of my daily tasks. I wrote in my planner on a specific day and time when I would clean that window! I’m grinning as I write this thinking, "I scheduled a time to clean the window?"; yet that’s how I knew I would get it done.
